Report: English Premier League giants 'considering' a move for Celtic star Josip Juranovic
English Premier League side Chelsea are reportedly interested in a move for Celtic right-back Josip Juranovic.
The 26-year-old enjoyed an outstanding first campaign at Parkhead, joining from Polish side Legia Warsaw as part of Ange Postecoglou’s recruitment drive.
Juranovic played a key role in helping the Bhoys to a league and cup double whilst also earning automatic entry in this season’s Champions League group stage.
The full-back’s performances in Scotland, on the European stage and on international duty have caught the eye of clubs from across Europe.
However, that move ultimately came to nothing, with the Madrid side looking elsewhere for other options and Juranovic remaining part of Postecoglou’s squad to kick off the new competitive season.
As we slowly approach the end of the summer window, Celtic fans might have been becoming quietly confident that we will at least see the full-back remain at the club for another six months at least.
However, more interest in Juranovic appears to have arrived.
According to a report from 90min.com, English Premier League giants Chelsea are now considering a move for the Celtic defender as they look to add defensive reinforcements.
Celtic’s Juranovic transfer resolve may be tested with Chelsea links.
Having added four new signings this summer, Chelsea have already spent upwards of £160 million. Almost £100 million of that has gone towards defensive reinforcements.
It doesn’t look like the Champions League side has any plans of stopping their summer expenditure either, as they target another central defender and right-back.
A big money offer may test Celtic’s transfer resolve towards the end of the transfer window, with every player having their price. However, I am sure Ange Postecoglou will be desperate to keep all members of his squad, including Juranovic.
The Celtic defender isn’t the only right-back option on Chelsea’s transfer list. But it may be a tempting move for the Blues after a quality season at Parkhead.
Hopefully, these links come to nothing, and Juranovic is a player we can keep ahold of, as he has already shown how good an option he can be under Ange Postecoglou
Regular game time and a spot in the Croatian National team could be a huge selling point for Juranovic to remain at Celtic ahead of the Qatar World Cup later this year.
