Former Celtic defender Kolo Toure could be about to make his first steps into football management with a report linking him to the vacant Wigan Athletic role.
Championship side Wigan are on the search for a new boss after sacking Leam Richardson earlier this month, shortly after handing him a new three-year contract.
Journalist Alan Nixon says that Wigan owner Talal Al Hammad has flown into London to finalise the appointment of former Ivory Coast international Toure, who is still working under former Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers as a coach at Leicester City.

Toure started his club coaching career at Celtic after retirement, following a brief but influential spell as a central defender signed by Rodgers.
If he lands the Wigan role it would be historic. It’s said the 41-year-old would become the first African international to manage in English senior football.
The former defender was a popular member of the team and staff at Celtic, with his chant and dressing room dancing proving to be one of the celebratory highlights of that period of domination in Scotland.
No doubt many Celtic fans will be wishing him well with his first management role when it happens, even if this Wigan job falls through. It now seems inevitable he will take these steps after a long apprenticeship under Rodgers.
Toure’s brother Yaya was also linked with the Wigan post, though has decided to stay in a coaching position at Tottenham Hotspur for the time being.
In other news, Government step could leave Celtic and Scottish football looking for new sponsors.
