Former Celtic midfielder Youssouf Mulumbu is being tacked by two Ligue 1 clubs.

Nimes and Dijon are reportedly interested in the recently released midfielder.

This will be a welcome return to the French top flight for the former PSG man.

Mulumbu will be offered a deal with a new club in the next few days.

Mulumbu is keeping himself fit in order to slot into a team ready for him.

He is a seasoned midfielder who can do a job for a lot of teams in top flights across Europe.

Mulumbu is still a Congo international and is fit as a fiddle.

It looks like the cannon fodder of Ligue 1 want Mulumbu to come in and shore up their midfield.

Dijon are a small team without a huge transfer kitty which is why the likes of Mulumbu is a target on a free.

Nimes are a little better and finished a surprise ninth last season.

However, they are still recovering from a 3-0 drubbing away to PSG at the weekend.

It’s perhaps a shame that his short spell at Celtic didn’t work out.

Celtic are moving on from Mulumbu type signings

The former West Brom man was right place right time.

After a fantastic season with Kilmarnock, Brendan Rodgers brought him to Celtic,

However, game time was always going to be limited and Mulumbu was a squad player.

Even another loan spell in Ayrshire wasn’t enough to keep him in Scotland.

Celtic should be looking down a different avenue in future when it comes to signings.

Mulumbu was impulsive due to losing out on John McGinn and the club should learn from it.

Now, the club is overrun with many central midfielders competing for a spot.

Celtic should be moving away from these types of signings and invest in the youths already at the club.
