Giorgos Giakoumakis is believed to be happy at Celtic and still hopes to come to a contract agreement with the club, despite reports of a breakdown in talks on improved terms.
The Daily Record reported last week that the Greek striker could be a ‘shock’ January exit after discussions with his representatives reached a conclusion without compromise. It was said he is unhappy a new deal couldn’t be agreed upon.
However, Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph has reported this weekend that Giakoumakis remains happy with his life in Glasgow and that talks are set to resume with both parties hopeful of a breakthrough.

The forward’s current deal doesn’t even expire until 2026, so it’s not as if there is any real urgency in coming to an agreement, even with the January window looming.
Giakoumakis remains a key member of Ange Postecoglou’s squad and has made 21 appearances in all competitions this season, starting big matches such as the Champions League encounter at home to Real Madrid.
When he’s not starting, the big striker is all but guaranteed to come on as a substitute at some point. He’s managed to bang in 25 goals for the club since his arrival last summer, eight of which have come this season.
His penchant for crucial goals has also made him a firm fan favourite with the support. Many identify with his heart-on-sleeve, physical style which is unique when it comes to the rest of the attackers in the squad.
If he feels undervalued at Celtic, then so be it, but the club remain in a strong position regardless. If he does signal he’d like an exit, then the Bhoys hold all the cards on a sale. Anyone who wants him will have to pay up.
