Celtic approached Graham Potter to discuss potentially taking on the vacant managerial position but the former Chelsea boss sees his future in the English Premier League.

The Sunday Mail reports that he is no longer in the running to replace Ange Postecoglou, who confirmed his exit to Tottenham Hotspur last week.

David Moyes, who has just won the UEFA Europa Conference League, will also not be taking charge of the Bhoys despite speculation. The paper reports he will be staying at West Ham United next season and is not in contention for the position.

Celtic manager search goes on

There are plenty of other names still linked with the post. Brendan Rodgers, Enzo Maresca and Daniel Farke are among those who are said to be actively in the running.

Rodgers has distanced himself from speculation in recent days, but it’s reported that he hasn’t 100% ruled anything out at this stage, despite being eager to take a break from football following his exit from Leicester City.

Other names include Kjetil Knutsen of Bodo/Glimt, who has found great success in Norway and even conquered Celtic in European competition previously.

The latest on Maresca remains what we’ve known for a while – the Bhoys are looking to speak to him after his UEFA Champions League with Manchester City, having previously been impressed with his interview back in 2021.

It seems likely that Celtic will be looking to head deeper down the recruitment path with a preferred candidate later this week, whoever that may be. At this stage, the club itself may not have made a final decision on who they want to take charge, never mind the person themselves committing.

There’s a decent window to get a new man in place before any of the hard work begins at Lennoxtown early next month, but the sooner someone is in the job, the sooner they can plan for what could be a very busy summer on multiple fronts.
