John Kennedy is reportedly being considered by Hearts for their vacant managerial position according to the Daily Record.

Hearts are currently being looked after by interim boss, Steven Naismith but it seems that Anne Budge is looking to keep her options open as the season draws to an end.

However, the report does state that should Naismith lead Hearts to third spot then it is likely that he will be given the job permanently.

Kennedy is highly regarded by Celtic manager, Ange Postecoglou and there is no doubt that losing him to one of our league rivals would be regarded as a huge blow.

The Celtic manager has been at great pains to praise Kennedy for his support since he became the gaffer almost two seasons ago.

That is a far cry from when Kennedy was widely regarded as one of the people responsible for the loss of ten in a row under Neil Lennon.

Kennedy has served his apprenticeship under the likes of Neil Lennon, Brendan Rodgers and Ange Postecoglou. He also took charge of Celtic for their remaining league fixtures during the COVID season after Neil Lennon left the club.

The Celtic Assistant Manager is no stranger to being courted by other teams in the division. It wasn’t too long ago that he was tipped to join Hibs after the Edinburgh side sacked former Celtic favourite Shaun Maloney in April 2022.

Indeed, 67 Hail Hail reported before that Kennedy knocked back Hibs previously in 2019 after the dismissal of Jack Ross. But could the lure of Hearts be enough to tempt him to leave behind what he has helped Ange Postecoglou build over the last two seasons?

Kennedy has always harboured ideas of being his own man. [The Scotsman] In fact, he has also always regarded being at Celtic as his ‘dream job’ so it may need to take something a little bit more special than swapping the green and white hoops of Celtic for the maroon of Hearts.
