The German duo of Hertha Berlin and TSG Hoffenheim are interested in signing Tottenham left-back Ryan Sessegnon on loan, reports Sky Sport Germany.
According to ‘Sky information’, the duo are battling to sign the player, who was signed by Spurs from Fulham for £25m last season (Transfer Update, 01/10/20, 22:29). The German report also credits Brighton and Southampton with an interest.
Financial issues could reportedly scupper Hoops chances
Of course, it is already known that Celtic are interested in signing the player. Sky Sports in the UK reported this week that the Hoops had made an approach to sign the player on loan. However, they cautioned that it has been problematic to put together any deal financially.

Perhaps the reports of German interest will spur Celtic on to get the deal done quick. Maybe the financial issues were to do with the Europa League. Perhaps it was about waiting to find out if the Hoops made the group stages.
That has been sorted now. Hopefully the coast is clear for the Hoops to make the move to bring Sessegnon to Celtic Park for the rest of the season.
Great bit of business if Hoops get deal done
It would be a great bit of business by Celtic if the Hoops could get the Sessegnon deal done. He could turn out to be one of those game changing signings. One that gives the club an impetus to push on and achieve great things.
Interestingly, should Sessegnon join the Hoops, he would be replacing a player that left Celtic for £25m in Kieran Tierney.

If Sessegnon is as good as Tierney was at Celtic then he will be an excellent player indeed. No doubt as the transfer window gets ready to close in four days time, there will be plenty of stories about who Celtic could be signing.
Hopefully one of those stories reads ‘Celtic sign Ryan Sessegnon’. It would be a real coup if Celtic can get the deal done.
In other news, Boli Bolignoli is set to go to Manchester and Paris in the Champions League.
