Reported Celtic target Joe Aribo is apparently set to make a decision on his future this week.

The Charlton Athletic midfielder has been interesting the likes of Rangers and Celtic (Scottish Sun). English clubs are also said to be vying for his signature too.

But according to the Daily Mail via the Sun, a decision on the Championship star’s future is to be made this week.

Charlton, meanwhile, have offered the midfielder a new contract to stay at the Valley (cafc.co.uk). Their promotion to the Championship could be a nice carrot for Aribo. As of yet, however, it all seems to be up in the air about his next move.

Not a priority position

Sure, Aribo has had a decent campaign in League One. He’s fired home 10 goals and managed five assists this season. He also appears to be a versatile player too. Aribo has played at left wing, right, wing, centre-midfield, and as a number 10. He appears a bit of a jack of all trades.

But competition for the likes of Callum McGregor and Scott Brown isn’t what’s required at this moment in time. Instead, Celtic need to go out and buy a high-quality number 10. Someone who can produce a piece of magic from nothing similar to Tom Rogic on his A game.

Aribo looks a tidy enough player, but we have enough of those as it is. Eboue Kouassi, Youssouf Mulumbu, and Nir Bitton are all available in reserve. The likes of Ewan Henderson is another who can be relied upon in the midfield.

Whilst Aribo can play in the number 10 position, he looks a bit of a gamble. But it’s easy to see why Celtic could be interested given he’s out of contract this summer (Transfermarkt). He represents minimal risk financially, but it would be nice to see Celtic aim a tad higher in their search for a number 10.

In any case, this is one transfer deal that looks set to be decided in the coming days. Therefore, it’s one to keep a sharp eye out for before the end of the week.
