Celtic attacker Jonny Hayes won’t be leaving the club in the transfer window.

TEAMtalk reports that the club have pulled the plug on a proposed loan move to Aberdeen.

The winger’s future at Celtic will then be discussed at the end of the season.

It had originally been reported by TEAMtalk on Wednesday that Aberdeen had reached ‘a breakthrough’ in an attempt to bring Hayes back to the club.

But now the Hoops have decided that they would rather keep Hayes then let him leave.

The player will now presumably have until the end of the season to try and impress Brendan Rodgers.

Hayes has struggled to hold down a first-team place for the Hoops.

He was also unfortunate to pick up a season-ending leg injury against Dundee last season.

On his day, he is capable of lighting up the Scottish Premiership. He certainly did at Pittodrie.

As yet though, he has not been able to make the step-up required to hold down at first-team place at Celtic Park.

That seems unlikely to change between now and the end of the season, unless Hayes discovers a vein of form not seen as yet in his time at the club.
