Read MoreReport: Liverpool interest in Celtic man Odsonne Edouard could cool as Reds reportedly chase Luis Suarez
Liverpool are set to cool their reported interest in Odsonne Edouard, as the Reds seek a Luis Suarez return.
According to Fichajes.net, Jürgen Klopp’s misfiring side are seeking to add experience to the front-line. The usually trusty attacking trio of Mané, Salah and Firmino are yet to truly find form in 20-21.
Liverpool’s title defence has been troubled from the start. An incredibly unlikely number of injuries has left them 7th in the Premier League.
Veteran football journalist Ian McGarry had indicated that the Reds were after Odsonne Edouard. There had already been reported interest from Arsenal and Leicester City, amongst others. The Frenchman seems destined for the Premier League.
This could also be good news for former Celtic man Moussa Dembélé. The popular ex-Celt has struggled in Madrid so far, due to injuries and Covid-19. However, if he can find form for the Rojiblancos, Simeone may see Moussa as his long-term answer. Clearly, he’s already a fan of the on-loan Lyon man.

Odsonne Edouard: if not Liverpool, then where?
It seems inevitable that Odsonne Edouard will leave Celtic in the summer.
His contract ends in the summer of 2022. Objectively, it would be an act of financial negligence to let such a talent’s contract run out. To lose the former PSG striker for nothing would be insanity.
That said, it’ll sting just the same when an elite European side comes in for him. Or one of Arsenal, Leicester or Aston Villa. In terms of stature, Villa wouldn’t exactly be a step up for the 20-goal striker. You’d expect that the talented youngster would be looking to compete in Champions League football.
For Liverpool’s part, it’s an understandable if sideways and expensive move. Suarez earns a hefty wage at Atletico, and while the Reds have the funds, he’d be an expensive and short-term answer. He does, however, have 19 goals in 25 La Liga games to his name this season [Transfermarkt].
Whether this means Liverpool will drop out of the Edouard race entirely is yet to be seen. However, Fichajes’ report indicates that Jürgen Klopp is planning something else entirely.
