Now that we have all come to terms with the news that Ange Postecoglou has left Celtic, the official announcement from the club has now paved the way for the club to intensify its search for a new manager.

Celtic have already been linked to a variety of names over the last 48 hours and it is clear that we are now making moves to fill the Potecoglou void in the Celtic dressing room.

One name that cropped up this morning is current Manchester City coach, Enzo Maresca. The Italian was previously linked to Celtic prior to the appointment of Ange Postecoglou in 2021 and it seems that he is now back on the Parkhead boardroom’s radar.

Now Football Scotland report that Manchester City are readying themselves for an official approach from Celtic with a view to discussing his future after the conclusion of the Champions League Final this Saturday.

Maresca did reject a move to Southampton a few weeks ago so it could be the case that either he remains happy at Man City or just didn’t fancy coaching in the English Championship.

However, there are still other candidates in the frame. As previously discussed on 67 Hail Hail, David Moyes, Brendan Rodgers and Graham Potter have all been linked to the now-vacant position. It is also likely that this speculation will only further increase now that Ange Postecoglou has officially left Celtic and become the manager of Spurs.

What is certain though is that Celtic will need to get this appointment right, and quickly. The supporters do not want another drawn-out process like the one we experienced two years ago with Eddie Howe.

And whilst there is urgency in getting a new man in place, we must also be wary of not rushing into anything. But I am sure that the Celtic board will do their utmost to get the right man in place. With some of the names that are being mentioned at the moment, it seems that we are looking at the best possible candidates to ensure that is the case.
