Report: No medical lined up for Celtic man Kieran Tierney

The idea of a Kieran Tierney medical occurring this week has reportedly been dismissed, which will be a relief to Celtic fans.

The Daily Record has denied that there is a medical booked for our top left-back down in London. That came despite reports from down south that a deal had been agreed and Tierney was all set to make his way down south (The Sun).

Of course, despite the positive news, the Record still believes that a deal for Tierney will be thrashed out. Arsenal are apparently desperate to get their man, but no deal was in place as of late last night.

Celtic have rejected two bids from the Gunners this summer. There were also reports last week that Arsenal had halted their interest after growing frustrated with negotiations (The Herald). But with the speculation continuing to rumble on, that doesn’t look like it’s the case.

Kieran Tierney medical not on the radar at the moment

At the very least, it’s a small boost that Tierney isn’t, as of yet, on the way out of Parkhead. He’s continuing to recover from his double hernia operation in the summer, and goodness knows when he’ll be match-fit.

The left-back has missed out on a full pre-season with the champions. Even when he does recover, it will take him some time to build up his match-fitness.

Meanwhile, his supposed replacement, Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo, has failed to seriously impress early on. In two out of his three Celtic matches so far, he’s come off with an injury. Some fans expressed their disgruntlement at his performance against Nomme Kalju last week.

Celtic may want to seriously think twice about letting Tierney go for any money this summer. At least until Boli proves that he’s ready to be trusted in a Celtic jersey.

But there are no reports to back the idea that Arsenal are ready to give this one up anytime soon. Their hunt for Tierney goes on, but at the very least, there’s still no deal for him in place as of the current state of play.
