Odsonne Edouard is unsure on whether a move from Celtic to Brighton is the right move for him, the Daily Mail reports.

It’s stated by the newspaper that the Seagulls have submitted a £20m offer for the player’s services. However, it doesn’t appear to have captured the Frenchman’s imagination, who isn’t certain on the idea at this time.

The Daily Mail reports that Brighton have been looking at an alternative in Benfica striker Darwin Nunez. It’s said that the EPL club has enquired about the possibility of bringing the £35m-rated Uruguayan to the Amex stadium.

Nunez has caught the attention of several Premier League clubs this summer, meaning Brighton would face stiff competition [Daily Mail]. But it looks as though they’re already looking at potential Edoaurd alternatives.

The Celtic striker has struggled to impress over the last 12 months. Odsonne has failed to find the net in any of his three Celtic appearances this season.

Odsonne Edouard right to be uncertain over Celtic to Brighton route, but form must improve

If you’d have said 12 months ago that Edouard would leave Celtic for Brighton, you would’ve been laughed at. It would’ve been deemed impossible that the Frenchman would have to stoop to that level.

With all due respect to Brighton, they aren’t the stature of club Edouard should be looking at. It wasn’t long ago he was being linked with the likes of AC Milan and Leicester City [Daily Record].

But whilst he’s right to be uncertain over whether it’s the right move for him, his form needs to improve. If we’re going by current form, you would bite the hand off for £20m. That isn’t a figure reflective of what Edouard is producing at this moment in time. Even if he was on a long-term contract.

He’s at the stage now where clubs will be turning off of him. After all, if you’d been a scout watching Edouard over the last few months, why would you sign him? His goal return hasn’t been anything overly impressive. Promising moves keep breaking down under him too.

There was once a time where Edouard being unsure about Brighton would’ve delighted the Celtic support. Now, it’s just met with a shrug of the shoulders.

Regardless of where he goes this summer, he needs to up his levels. What he’s shown so far under Ange Postecoglou has been anything but acceptable.
