Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has made the right-back position a transfer priority this summer, but the club are still looking for a number of players in other areas.

Journalist Stephen McGowan reports in The Scottish Daily Mail that Postecoglou is on the hunt for a holding midfielder, another centre-half and another winger, beyond the pursuit for a new right-sided defender.

The club have already signed Liel Abada and Carl Starfelt for the wing and defence, while Kyogo Furuhashi arrives to likely play as a striker.

So far, Celtic have not been linked with a lot of central midfielders. It’s arguably one of the strong parts of the squad with Callum McGregor, Ismaila Soro and David Turnbull all available.

However, beyond that trio, there’s not much depth at all. It’s wise to be considering another central player who can give Postecogou options in defensive midfield.

Even beyond the positions named in the report, there are other spots in the squad that could be improved upon. Many fans are calling for a new first-choice goalkeeper while we’re not looking particularly strong in the left-back area either.

Realistically we need at least six or seven more signings beyond the business already completed.

Still, it’s good to know no area of the pitch is being neglected as the club try to complete transfer business ahead of the new league season.

We’re just five days away from a trip to Tynecastle and feel considerably undercooked for Scottish Premiership challenges.

The manager will have to try and work magic with what he’s got in the meantime.
