Rangers may be set for more difficulties in their pursuit of Celtic this summer, after a recent report about Ross Wilson emerged.

The Ibrox sporting director is wanted by Nottingham Forest, as reported by The Athletic’s David Ornstein, and there’s confidence that a deal will be done.

Wilson has been in place since late 2019 but a move to England seems a real possibility now, with the clubs in contact.

On Saturday, Michael Beale’s side slipped 12 points behind Ange Postecoglou‘s all-conquering machine after a 3-2 loss at Celtic Park.

Since full-time, much of the chat from our rivals’ supporters has been that they aren’t too far behind us, and will be able to challenge for glory next season with the right investment this summer.

Wilson isn’t a popular figure at Ibrox given the dominance Celtic have enjoyed in his tenure, but his departure would still be a major issue ahead of the summer window.

Put it this way, if Mark Lawwell was to depart Celtic Park tomorrow then you’d probably be a little worried about our business this summer?

Okay, you probably wouldn’t. Because we have Ange Postecoglou and he’s amazing. But our rivals don’t have that luxury.

More upheaval at Ibrox is good news for us. They’ve already got their work cut out in catching us, with Celtic set to improve again in the coming months.

Without Wilson, that task is greater still.
