Rubin Kazan centre-back Carl Starfelt is very interested in the prospect of signing for Celtic, the Scottish Sun reports.

The report claims that Celtic have lodged a £4m and hope to be given access to secure personal terms with the Swedish defender.

The Sun states that Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou is anxious about getting defensive reinforcements in ahead of our Champions League qualifier against FC Midtjylland on July 20th.

However, with regards to Starfelt, the player himself is reported to be extremely interested in making a move. Another major plus for Celtic as we look to get our backline in order for Europe.

The Daily Record reports that Rubin Kazan want in excess of £4m for the players’ services. But it doesn’t appear as though Celtic are far away from an agreement.

An exciting seven days for Celtic fans is about to get underway

Carl Starfelt appears ready for Celtic move

Starfelt effectively moved to Russia in order to get a further move to another big European club. Therefore, he’s using his current club as a stepping stone to bigger and better things [Expressen].

Therefore, his interest in a move to Parkhead perhaps isn’t surprising. Despite being 26, Celtic can offer him plenty that he’s yet to experience in his career.

He’s yet to feature in European football proper – something he’ll be desperate to do. He’s also yet to win any medals in his career. At 26, he’ll want to start adding to his collection now.

Not to mention that he can outshine Sweden positional rival and Rangers centre-back Filip Helander in Scotland. Doing that will surely earn him a ticket back into his national team squad after being snubbed for Euro 2020.

There is plenty of motivation for Starfelt to make the move to Celtic Park. It’s a massive step-up for him and one he’ll need to show that he’s ready for.

In the meantime, we continue to await the completion of the deal. Fingers crossed Celtic get their business done quickly.

In other news, a Celtic-daft EFL captain played a role in last week’s major Parkhead move.
