Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard is struggling to keep English Premier League cubs interested due to his wage demands, according to the Scottish Sun.
The Sun reports that Edouard wants a starting figure of £85k-per-week should he make the move down to the EPL. This comes after reported interest from the likes of Brighton and Southampton respectively.
The report states that Southampton have since backed off from any deal. Instead, they moved to snap up Blackburn Rovers’ Adam Armstrong for £15m [The Athletic].
Despite having yet to find a replacement, the Sun believes that Brighton have now moved on from Edouard. It’s said that Graham Potter is now looking elsewhere for an alternative option.
Last week, reports surfaced of Celtic being interested in OH Leuven striker Thomas Henry. It was claimed that any deal for the Frenchman would only go through if Edouard departed [Daily Record].
Celtic need to do all they can to get Odsonne Edouard out the door
Yes, for many it would be wise to keep hold of Edouard. After all, when on his game he’s the best striker in the country bar none. And by some distance too.
However, he hasn’t been on his game in any of our competitive matches so far. With a contract expiring next summer, the old question mark of whether Edouard cares enough will constantly hover above his head.
In addition to that, Ange Postecoglou is looking to rebuild this Celtic side. Edouard, whether he stays or goes, isn’t part of the long-term team Postecoglou wants.
Therefore, if Edouard’s stay is going to disrupt the purchase of long-term replacement Henry, that’s a problem. And it’s a problem we could be doing without given we could be missing out on a player who could be a valuable asset for Celtic for the foreseeable future.

Granted, if Edouard is happy to run down his contract, there’s nothing we can do. That contract is a commitment from the club every bit as much as it is from the player. It must be honoured, and we could be looking at the very real scenario of not getting a penny for Odsonne.
Even this far on, we’re still feeling the effects of our pursuit of the 10.
