Cameron Carter-Vickers’ camp believes that Celtic Park is the best place for his development as we edge closer to Champions League football, the Daily Record reports.

Carter-Vickers is currently on loan from Tottenham Hotspur until the end of the season. The USA international has been an absolute stalwart for the Hoops too as one of Ange Postecoglou’s main centre-backs.

The Record reports that Burnley, Wolves, and Leicester City are all in the hunt for the Spurs man. However, Celtic remain in talks with Spurs to sign the player with a £6m option-to-buy fee that could rise to £10m with future add-ons.

The report states that CCV is also keen to break his way back into the USA national team. With the World Cup in Qatar fast approaching at the end of the year, consistent football will be essential.

And the Record says his camp sees Celtic as the perfect place for him to take his game to new heights. UCL football no doubt playing a major role so long as the Hoops win the league championship.

Carter-Vickers has made 39 appearances for the Hoops this season and bagged the winner in Sunday’s Glasgow derby at Ibrox [Transfermarkt].

Cameron Carter-Vickers could be ready to commit to Celtic

Celtic could seriously be about to see the benefits of bagging UCL football here.

If Carter-Vickers commits to the club for the long-term, it’ll be a huge boost for Ange and the entire squad this summer. It would fill one of the major pieces of the jigsaw, and it would be a real coup for the club even if we did have to splash out as much as £10m in total.

With EPL interest seemingly emerging all over the place for his signature, Celtic fans have a right to be nervous about this one. However, if it’s true that his camp believe Parkhead is the ideal place for him, that says a lot about what Ange is building here.

CCV is going to have plenty of options in the summer. It’s all dependent on where he views himself being in the long-term. So many players come across as desperate to play regular English Premier League football if they can. And with a World Cup coming up in December, that was always the fear in this case.

However, if we bag a group stage slot for the UCL, Celtic would be in a prime position. If CCV is operating at Europe’s top level, surely then he would easily be making the USA squad ahead of their World Cup campaign?

For now, there’s still a title to be won as well as the Scottish Cup. That takes sole priority at the moment. But hopefully this is a deal we can get done in the summer. It would certainly be a major boost for us.
