Reported lengthy absence of Tierney may have significant transfer implications

The saga of where Kieran Tierney will play football this season may have taken another twist. Arsenal have been expected to put a third bid in for the left-back this week.

However, Neil Lennon has disclosed that Tierney’s current injury could keep him out of action for a while. The Sun is reporting that he could be out of action for eight weeks.

“He’s still injured, and he’s rehabbing” Lennon said, as reported by The Sun.

“He had a double hernia, and he still has the Osteitis pubis problem so it’s a slow burner that one.”

The report goes on to claim that Tierney will only recover with a period of rest.

Should the recovery time be as lengthy as predicted, then that may have a significant impact on Celtic’s transfer window.

Would Arsenal still want to sign a player that is perhaps going to be out for up to eight weeks? That remains to be seen. We shall find out soon enough if his injury problem will prevent Arsenal from making a bid, as the English transfer window closes in five days.

On the other hand, would Celtic want to sign another left-back? At the moment, the only natural left-back on Celtic’s books is Boli Bolingoni-Mbombo.

Jonny Hayes has played left-back, but that is not his natural position. You have to think that the situation of only having one fit left-back won’t last for long.

Perhaps even a short-term loan deal could be the solution to the problem. Hopefully Tierney will get back to fitness sooner than the reported eight weeks.
