Soon to be appointed Celtic manager Neil Lennon reportedly wants one of his old backroom staff to return to the club.
The Daily Record is reporting that Lennon wants to see Garry Parker return to the club. The move makes sense, as Parker has worked with Lennon at both Hibs and Celtic.
Should Parker come in, could that mean that John Kennedy takes on a new role at Celtic? Kennedy is currently Lennon’s assistant manager at the club.
Reportedly in talks

However, in the past Kennedy has been linked with a sporting director role at the club. It was claimed that the Hoops hierarchy were in talks with Kennedy about the position before Brendan Rodgers left Celtic for Leicester.
However, should Parker return to the club, Kennedy could now take on the role that he had been discussing earlier this year.

It should be remembered that the Hoops do not currently have a head of recruitment in place. The previous head of recruitment Lee Congerton departed the club recently to rejoin Brendan Rodgers at Leicester.
Role has to be filled quickly

That is a role that has to be filled quickly. After all, the Hoops are back in action in July in the Champions League qualifiers.
Perhaps if Parker returns the Hoops board will decide to give the role of sporting director/head of recruitment to Kennedy. It could open up a new intriguing avenue for the club.
