Could Celtic’s striker issue be solved by Ex-Real Madrid trainee Fran Sol? The Willem II hot-shot has been banging them in for fun in the Eredivisie.

According to the Birmingham Mail, the Hoops are keen on Sol, but would face a battle for the Spaniard’s signature. A host of clubs, including rivals Rangers are reportedly interested in a January move for the striker.

The striker’s impressive record for his current club reads 45 goals in just 84 appearances. This includes a staggering 16 goals in 19 games this season.

It’s obvious the ex Villarreal man knows where the net is. And how Celtic could be doing with him now.

The most impressive thing from the striker’s scoring record is that it’s with an unfashionable club in Willem II.

His side currently sit 13th in the table. And despite his best efforts, his team have a -10 goal difference.

It’s no wonder there are so many clubs fighting for his services. But Celtic need him more than anyone, and if he is on their radar, they must do all they can to get him.

Brendan Rodgers has made it clear that he wants two strikers in the upcoming transfer window.

Leigh Griffiths’ extended break from football leaves only Odsonne Edouard as Celtic’s striking options.

It’s an enormous task for Edouard to carry the load as a 20-year-old boy. Remember this is his first proper season as the main man in attack.

He is under immense expectations, and rightly so as Celtic’s record transfer fee. However, he needs help. He’s proven in his appearances that he has enough about him to become a superb player in the future.

Sol or nothing

It’s difficult to gauge whether Celtic’s interest in the striker is indeed genuine. Celtic typically like to do their business quietly.

However, they are currently crying out for a striker, and this one seems to fit the bill.

Rodgers made a point in the summer of his frustration at being let down by the board regarding transfers.

He’s already publicly stated his desire for more strikers. The board simply cannot let him down.

If their interest in Sol is genuine, then Celtic have to pull out all the stops to ensure the Spanish goal machine becomes a Bhoy.
