Jozo Simunovic’s future at Celtic is once more the subject of transfer speculation. The Daily Record are reporting that Lille may be set to make a second bid for the Hoops centre-back.

The report goes on to indicate that talks are ongoing between the teams but that no deal has been agreed, and Celtic knocked back a bid of over £4 million for the player but that Lille may be set to make another bid.

Can afford to make a new bid for player

Lille now have a lot of money to spend following the departure of Nicolas Pepe to Arsenal. Therefore, they could make another bid for the player.

The fact that Celtic are willing to have talks with Lille could indicate that the Hoops are willing to sell the player. If another bid comes in for the player, the Hoops would have a big decision to make.

Departure would depend on replacement

Celtic could get a large fee for the player if Lille are really willing to sign the player. Any departure for Simunovic would have to depend on a replacement being brought in.

However, if a replacement for the player can be signed then Celtic would perhaps selling Simunovic. There is a chance that Simunovic will not be a first-team regular for the Hoops next season. Therefore, if the price is right, perhaps it makes sense to sell the player.
