Celtic must look for a greater fee from Arsenal for target Kieran Tierney.

According to BBC Sport, so far two derisory bids have been rejected by the Hoops board.

However, Arsenal are reportedly seeking out Dayot Umapecano who will command a £50 million transfer.

This should change everything when it comes to Tierney.

20 years old and ready for the top at this stage proves Arsenal are going for the right man. He is the one man that a defence can be built around and will go on to massive things.

Equally, Tierney is another man that Arsenal can look at to be a focal point in defence.

There will be a few who turn their nose up at the 22-year-old, but he is probably the best kept secret in British football.

Arsenal clearly have a strong idea about the backline they want on paper.

However, they need to pay the fees to back that up.

Upamecano will cost around £50 million and the Londoners have already spent £72 million last week on Nicolas Pepe.

The Hoops are right to ask for more for Tierney.

Celtic must look for Kieran Tierney replacement

In this saga there will not be a lot of forgiveness if things go a certain way. Celtic fans will be unhappy that Tierney is gone and that’s understandable.

However, if the club aren’t looking about for an equal replacement then that is probably worse.

The club have been well aware of Arsenal’s interest and financial power.

Low balling fees at the start of negotiations is part of football and must be acknowledged.

The fans will not forgive the club if Boli Bolingoli is going to be The Bhoys’ only left-back recruit in this window.
