Chris Sutton isn’t impressed by Celtic’s attempts to sign a right-back this summer. The Hoops have so far failed to replace the departed Mikael Lustig.
The outspoken former Hoops striker didn’t hold back with his opinion on Celtic’s struggles to find a player for the position.
He is also concerned that the Hoops’ inability to land a right-back could come back to haunt them in the Champions League qualifiers.

“It’s almost getting ridiculous”
“But the real concern for the Hoops boss is at right back – it’s almost getting ridiculous” he said, as reported by the Daily Record.
“Celtic will probably get away with it in the first couple of rounds in Europe, but they can’t allow it to jeopardise their hopes down the line.”

The Hoops played centre-back Kristoffer Ajer at right-back in the recent game against Sarajevo. That is not ideal to say the least.
Bonus if player is signed before next qualifying round
Natural right-back Anthony Ralston was on the bench, but he seems to be out of favour at the moment. It would be a huge bonus for Celtic if a right-back was signed before the second round of qualifying begins.

That would give the player time to bed in before the third qualifying round. That is where it could get really tricky for the Hoops.
There is no doubt that the club are trying to get a right-back in. However, Sutton thinks the situation should have been dealt with a while ago.
