Rival supporters in panic mode; already questioning their manager days before Celtic game

The Rangers supporters appear to be feeling the heat as Celtic close in on them ahead of Wednesday night’s Glasgow derby.

Yesterday was a potentially colossal day in the title race. As Rangers failed to defend a 3-2 lead at Ross County, Celtic showed their character and class to beat Dundee United at Parkhead with 10 men in the last minute. It was an amazing show of resilience from Ange Postecoglou’s style whilst Rangers showed very little.

The result sets up a mouth-watering Glasgow derby at Celtic Park this week. Both sides are without some key players due to international duty, with the Hoops particularly struck. But with the chance to overtake Rangers and go top of the Premiership, the squad should be highly-incentivised.

And it’s fair to say Rangers have had this coming for some time. Despite being 6 points clear of Celtic coming out of the winter break, it’s been narrowed to only 2. But you couldn’t ignore the luck they carried even before the break.

Yes, Giovanni van Bronckhorst remains unbeaten after 13 games in charge of our rivals. However, they needed game-changing decisions to scrape wins against Dundee United and Hibernian before the break. Not to mention it took a goal 15 minutes from time to beat Livingston. To sum up, they’ve hardly been convincing.

These results have simply come down to the fact that Celtic have been putting on some relentless pressure to kick-off 2022. Wins over Hibernian, Hearts, and Dundee United have ticked off 3 potential banana-skins for the Hoops. Many expected the points gap to widen before Wednesday as opposed to narrow, and clearly it’s gotten to their supporter.

Van Bronckhorst is now getting it in the neck. He’s now being deemed too negative for a support that believes they should be bossing 90 minutes of every game. They believe he’s inviting teams onto them and dropping points because of it.

It’s probably unfair on him to be fair. We’re hardly going to analyse how van Bronckhorst is doing. We’ll leave that to our rivals. But from the outside looking in, there are definitely some new signs of discontent brewing after their draw yesterday.

Should he suffer his first defeat and subsequently top spot in the Premiership, he really will be feeling the pressure from his own supporters.

But for now, here’s a look at the panic starting to set in across the city on Twitter:
