Celtic greats have shown their support for outgoing captain Scott Brown.

Today, Celtic and Aberdeen announced that Broony would be setting off to join Stephen Glass at Pittodrie. It seems like the best move for all parties, with Brown out of contract in the summer. While still a contributor, the Celtic captain can add coaching to his CV, under the auspices of a friend in the incoming Dons boss Glass.

Naturally, his fellow professionals, past and present, have piled on the support. Robbie Keane was one of the first to offer a message, having played with Broony briefly in 2010.

His current team-mates were also quick on the draw.

Leigh Griffiths called his team-mate a hero. Having both come through the ranks at Hibs, there’s clearly a meaningful and mutual respect between the two.

Greg Taylor and Shane Duffy got in on the action too, and will be desperate to win the Scottish Cup for the outgoing Celtic captain.

Expect more from club and players with Scott Brown farewell tour

With a couple of months left this season, there’s still ample time for Scott Brown to wave goodbye to the club. How sad it is, though, that the inspirational captain won’t be waving goodbye to a packed-out Celtic Park.

It’s the very least the Celtic icon deserves.

Since 2007, Broony has been integral to the club’s recent success. Originally signed as a right-sided midfielder, Brown had actually played as a striker in his youth. Over time, his role took him further back up the pitch. Eventually, he became unstoppable as a roving, box-to-box midfielder, dictating the action for the Bhoys on countless occasions.

By the end of the season, Brown will have played over 610 matches for Celtic Football Club. His incredible role as part of one of our best eras can not, and will not, ever be forgotten by supporters.
