Robbie Keane has left Ferencvaros.
Widely linked with the Celtic job, Keane’s future has been subject of much debate, but this is now over after he resigned from the Hungarian giants.
He moved to Budapest 18 months ago to replace Pascal Jansen. It was his second managerial role after just over a year at Maccabi Tel Aviv in Israel.
Some outlets have named Keane as the frontrunner for the Celtic role, creating major intrigue around the latest update.

Robbie Keane has reportedly resigned as Ferencvaros manager
According to Hungarian outlet m4sport.hu, “several sources” have confirmed that Keane has tendered his resignation.
It comes after, under his watch, Ferencvaros missed out on the Hungarian title for the first time in eight years.

Crucially, Keane does not appear to have been sacked by the club, rather leaving of his own accord. He extended his contract with the club in December.
Along with Celtic, Keane has also been linked with the managerial vacancies at Crystal Palace, Tottenham Hotspur and Slovan Bratislava.
He delivered the league title after being hired midway through last season, but this campaign has been a different challenge.
The title race went to the final day in Hungary, but a win wasn’t enough to prevent FC Gyor from delivering a surprise title at the expense of Keane’s side.
To his credit, the Irishman did lead Ferencvaros to their first European knockout win in 50 years this season, eliminating Ludogorets in the first knockout round of the Europa League.
He is certainly remembered fondly for his excellent form when brought to the club on loan from the second half of the 2009-10 season, a disappointing campaign for the club as a whole.
His spell managing in Israel is troubling for parts of the Parkhead support, but it clearly isn’t dissuading the club from considering him as a candidate.
