Rocco Vata managed to notch his 4th goal of the season for Celtic B with another superb effort against Cumbernauld Colts.

The Celtic youngsters were held to a 2-2 draw in their Lowland League encounter. It’s a result that puts Celtic 6th in the table, 1 point behind East Stirlingshire in 5th with 3 games in hand.

Goals from Vata and Dominic Slattery twice had Celtic B ahead. However, a late Sean Winter equaliser snatched a point for Cumbernauld.

Vata, however, had undoubtedly been capturing the headlines in recent weeks. His exposure to the Republic of Ireland U17 squad was met with 2 goals last month. And given he’s only 15 years of age, he’s capturing the attention with his displays.

Son of 90s Celtic star Rudi, Rocco is managing to make a name for himself even this early on into his career. Celtic managed to snap him up on his first-ever professional contract back in July, and he’s been making fine progress ever since.

This time, he’s grabbed the headlines for a quite simply sublime finish against Cumbernauld. Collecting a ball into the penalty area, the starlet cut onto his left foot and rifled into the roof of the net from an acute angle.

Vata has been specialising in eye-catching goals, and this was another. It looked an almost impossible area from which to find the net, but such is his confidence, you’re not to surprised to see him pull it off.

Of course, with all of this hype comes a massive need to keep the youngster grounded. He’s still got a long road to go down before he’s banging on the door of the first-team. Celtic will want to protect him as best they can, and that’s by far the best thing to do for his development.

But for supporters, it’s difficult not to get carried away by his superb progress so far. He’s taken to B team football better than anyone could’ve imagined, and to say he’s burst onto the scene would be an understatement.
