Winger Rocco Vata has sent a goodbye message to Celtic on Instagram after confirming his switch to English Championship side Watford.
Vata made his debut back in December of 2022 under former manager Ange Postecoglou but speculation about his long-term Celtic future endured in the months and years after.
Hopes were initially high that he could be the latest Academy talent to bridge the gap to the senior squad consistently but he ended up making just six substitute appearances.
Despite contract offers, the Republic of Ireland youth international didn’t commit to the Bhoys and his deal expired at the end of last season.
He was free to speak to suitors around Europe and has decided Watford is the best place to continue his football development with as many as 15 offers elsewhere.

The teenager said in an Instagram Stories post: “My 12 years at Celtic comes to an end earlier than expected.
“I would like to thank all the staff I’ve worked with throughout the years for developing me into the player and person I am today. And the fans who believed in me and supported me. I wish Celtic all the best next year.”
The phrasing of the message is curious, suggesting he expected to have been at the Bhoys for a longer period despite choosing to leave.
It’s unclear what the circumstances of his exit truly were or why he didn’t sign a new deal.
His spell at Watford will be interesting to monitor. If he ends up getting regular week-to-week football in the Championship then it could well prove to be a good move for him.
Perhaps we’ll hear more from the youngster in the coming weeks about why he’s decided to make this career step and, as always, we wish him all the best with his transfer switch.
