Celebrity Celtic fan Rod Stewart has attracted the ire of some of his fellow supporters after sending a misguided congratulations tweet to Rangers in the wake of yesterday’s derby.

Stewart wasn’t the most popular man amongst sections of the support already after he slammed fan group The Green Brigade for the use of flares in Rome against Lazio (The Scottish Sun).

Now though he’s threatened to damage the ongoing relationship further, sending a message to the official Rangers Twitter account yesterday, following our 2-1 defeat at Celtic Park.

The rockstar is one of the most famous Celtic fans in the world, but it seems that some are growing tired of his public statements about what’s going on at the club.

Some supporters had also taken issue with another Twitter message apparently congratulating Boris Johnson on his election victory this month (The Independent).

Whether he is now deliberately looking for a reaction with his social media posts is unknown, but it’s fair to say his latest didn’t go down well with either side of the Glasgow divide.

Personally, I have to admit, it’s quite bizarre to see a Celtic fan congratulate our arch-rivals after such a damaging defeat.

These fans have taken to the social media over the last 24 hours to let Rod know he’s playing a daft game…
