Former Celtic manager Ronny Deila will be making an appearance on Simon Ferry’s Open Goal interview channel on Monday at 5pm and it’s become much-anticipated by some Hoops fans.
Former Celtic youth player Ferry has built up quite the reputation for conducting hilarious interviews that provide not just great information on a player or manager’s career, but also fantastic behind-the-scenes anecdotes.
Alongside assistant John Collins, Deila put a focus on fitness within his Celtic squad, which didn’t always go down particularly well within the culture that existed at Lennoxtown prior.
Deila once told fan podcast 90 Minute Cynic in 2017: “They were not as conscious around nutrition and the concept of being a “24-hour athlete” as we are in Norway.
“Quite frankly, it was shocking, but it had a lot to do with the wider society in Britain and the diet norms. It’s fried food, there is sugar in everything, alcohol, basically all the things that are the worst imaginable nutrition wise.
“We had to change everything about it at the club. I said to the nutrition expert at the club at the time that players can’t eat cornflakes for breakfast, and the answer I got was that they don’t like anything else! For me it would be better not to eat breakfast than having cornflakes, which they didn’t agree with.”
Deila, battling against those attitudes and putting a successful team on the park, delivered two of the club’s titles on the way to nine-in-a-row and no doubt has plenty to say about his time at Celtic Park.

Due to that silverware and his charisma, he remains a popular figure with many supporters, even if there’s a general recognition that his exit was a good thing for the club overall.
Fans, therefore, are unsurprisingly excited about watching Deila’s interview, taking to Twitter over the last 48 hour to share their thoughts on it all.
It’s definitely one to watch during lockdown!
