Ross County will be without Celtic loanee Ewan Henderson for their trip to face the Champions this weekend.

SPFL rules state that players on loan can’t play against their parent clubs on league duty, meaning that Henderson will have to take a watching brief at Celtic Park.

His absence is likely to be a damaging one for the Highland outfit too. Henderson’s arrival in Dingwall has coincided with the newly promoted outfit going on a four game unbeaten run that has taken them up to fifth in the Premiership table.

Henderson has already made an impact at Ross County

Henderson started the Staggies’ 2-1 wins over both St. Mirren and Motherwell as well as the 0-0 draw away to Kilmarnock. The 19-year-old didn’t feature in his side’s most recent game where they, perhaps unsurprisingly, dropped points against the league’s bottom side St. Johnstone.

A player of Henderson’s quality is likely to be a big miss for a team like Ross County and it could take a bit of time for them to get used to life without him. The Celtic man is immensely talented, to the extent where he is probably already County’s most valuable player.

His absence will make them less of a threat in Glasgow and as a result we should be able to put them to the sword.

It’s shaping up to be an important clash given our two most recent league results. Our home form over the past couple of years has been exemplary but there is little margin for error given the closeness of the title race.
