Ryan Christie has spoken of his delight that the club did not sell Callum McGregor.

The Hoops may have sold Kieran Tierney to Arsenal, but they managed to keep hold of their midfield lynchpin, despite interest from Leicester City.

Christie is pleased that the club kept hold of the player. McGregor will be vital to the prospects of winning nine in a row.

“I’m sure they tried their best to hold on to KT, but to keep Callum on deadline day leaves us all buzzing that he’s staying” Christie said, as reported by the Scottish Sun.

“The way he plays his game, everyone works around him in midfield, and that was vital for the whole of last season. To keep a player of that stature at the club is brilliant.”

Losing two key players would have been too much

Losing two hugely important players in the same window would have been too much for the Hoops. Therefore, the club must be commended for keeping hold of McGregor.

There may have been some temptation to cash in on the player. Leicester no doubt what would have offered a lot of money for McGregor. But Celtic have indicated that the player is far too important to be sold at this moment in time.

That will delight the Hoops fans as well as the players. For the moment at least, McGregor can get on with his game and the speculation can end.
