The Scottish international, who scored and assisted against Lazio, is joined by Arsenal man Nicolas Pepe, AZ Alkmaar winger Oussama Idrissi and Sevilla’s Franco Vazquez on the shortlist for matchday three.

Christie is excelling in the Europa League

While Christie undoubtedly put in a good display in our win over the Serie A giants, he probably wouldn’t have been most Celtic fans’ selection from the match. Both Fraser Forster and Christopher Jullien were arguably better than him throughout the 90 minutes and also came up with match winning moments – like the former Aberdeen man.

Christie was largely frustrating in the first-half as his end product let him down. He did improve after the break though and swept in a wonderful equaliser before delivering for Jullien’s nodded 89th minute winner.

He’s unlikely to come out on top in UEFA’s poll with Arsenal’s Pepe probably the obvious choice – despite only playing 15 minutes. The Ivory Coast man came on as a late sub before netting two sublime free-kicks in their dramatic 3-2 win over Portuguese outfit Vitoria Guimaraes.
