Celtic star Ryan Christie is already a national hero.

That status will likely never change even if he never plays another professional match for club or country.

His goal against Serbia, and subsequent post-match interview, has won the hearts of people all over Scotland.

Still, at only 25, he has plenty of road left in his career, and the show goes on.

His performance against Slovakia today has again caught the eye of Scotland supporters, despite a 1-0 defeat.

Christie started the match for Steve Clarke’s side, just days after the emotional roller-coaster in Belgrade.

In the first half especially, he was easily Scotland’s best player, linking up nicely with his teammates in the Slovakian half.

Almost anything positive from the away side’s point of view was filtered through the Celtic attacking midfielder.

Clarke heavily rotated his side, and much of the responsibility for their forward play fell on Christie’s shoulders.

The chances dried up in the second half as Slovakian protected their lead, but Christie’s confidence was clear to see.

It bodes well for his return to Celtic later this week, with some massive matches on the horizon for Neil Lennon and the team.

If Christie can start to recapture his best form, it’ll be massive for our Scottish Premiership fightback.
