Celtic defender Jeremie Frimpong has avoided serious injury following Sunday’s Motherwell match, The Scottish Sun has reported.
Neil Lennon was worried in the wake of the fixture, suggesting that Frimpong may have suffered ligament damage after a wild challenge from Motherwell player Devante Cole.
However, The Scottish Sun reports that a scan has uncovered no serious issues, with bruising the only damage to the youngster’s leg.
The paper states he may even be available for the upcoming Hibernian match.
That’s great news given the nature of the tackle, that referee Andrew Dallas should have shown a red card for.
Pundits such as Michael Stewart and former Premier League referee Dermot Gallagher have publicly stated that Cole should have been sent off.
Fans were also left fuming with the situation, feeling that Frimpong is not given enough protection by Scottish referees.
Thankfully the news is good and hopefully, it means that the youngster is indeed available after the international break.
Lennon also has the impressive Hatem Abd Elhamed to call upon, but Frimpong offers a direct attacking threat that can cause havoc in opposition defences.

Kristoffer Ajer, who also limped out of Sunday’s match, has travelled to join up with the Norway squad, suggesting his injury isn’t as serious as first feared either.
In other news, a Republic of Ireland player has tested positive for COVID-19 but it doesn’t appear to be Shane Duffy.
