With the news that Celtic are looking to extend young midfielder, Daniel Kelly’s contract hitting the headlines this morning, the fans will be delighted that the club are making moves to tie down their best prospects to new long-term deals.

Kelly has impressed Brendan Rodgers this season both on and off the park and the Celtic manager is keen to make sure the young Scotland u19 international doesn’t leave the club for free at the end of the season when his contract expires.

But Rodgers isn’t the only manager Daniel Kelly has been impressing recently. Scotland u19 international boss, Billy Stark, was talking up the midfielder and have told Celtic that they have a future star on their hands.

The former Celtic hero has been looking after the Scotland youngsters since 2018 and has highlighted Kelly as a potential star for the future for the Parkhead club.

Stark said [Daily Record], “It was great to see young Daniel get that opportunity and I’m looking forward to him joining up with the Under-19s next week.

“He scored a good goal against Dundee with his right foot, which is his swinger.

“Daniel is a real powerhouse who is strong and committed, with lots of energy. He has a lot of attributes that are needed for a top midfielder and we hope he continues to develop the way he has.”

Stark has looked after many Celtic youngsters in his time as the Scotland u21 boss so when he speaks so highly of a player, you can’t help but sit up and take notice.

The Celtic fans have now seen first-hand what Kelly can bring to the team and as long as he is managed properly, which Rodgers is an expert at, then we can all look forward to seeing the youngster making his impact at the club as he develops over the next few seasons.
