Scott Allan his high praise for former Celtic boss Neil Lennon
Hibs midfielder Scott Allan worked with Neil Lennon at two clubs, Celtic and Hibs. Even though Lennon knew the player well from their time together at Easter Road, he didn’t select the player for the Hoops whilst he was caretaker manager at Celtic.
That is perhaps understandable, as Allan had already agreed a deal to move back to Easter Road at the end of the season.
Even though Lennon didn’t select Allan for Celtic, he has nothing but good things to say about the current Hoops manager.
“I loved every minute”
“I couldn’t say a bad word about Lenny, I loved every minute of it” Allan told the PLZ Soccer Show, as he discussed the duo’s time at Hibs.
“He’d make you feel really, really confident before you went out to play a game of football and for some players it’s a big thing” he concluded.
With those comments it is a bit surprising that Lennon never turned to Allan when the Hoops were struggling towards the end of last season.
It should also be remembered that Lennon was the Hibs boss when Allan agreed to return to the Easter Road club.
Reunion at Celtic was probably a surprise to both men
Both men briefly reuniting at Celtic was probably a surprise to them both. However, Celtic fans will be interested in Allan’s comments about Lennon’s skills as a manager.
The comment about making players feel confident could reveal one of the reasons the Hoops managed to secure a treble last season.
The team weren’t in good form, but managed to get over the line thanks to individual talents. Judging by Allan’s comments, the players must have been full of confidence even when performance weren’t at their best.
It is good to see that even though he didn’t pick him for Celtic when given the chance, Allan still has plenty of good things to say about the Hoops manager.
