Scott Allan has opened up on the struggle of his time at Celtic. The 27-year-old recently ended his four year stint at the club after formally joining Hibernian.
The midfielder endured a torrid time at the club, failing to make a single competitive appearance in the last three seasons. In total, Allan made 17 appearances for Celtic, 14 of which came off the bench. He failed to score a single goal.

And now, as he prepares to return to his former side Hibs, he’s spoken about the difficulty of the recent period.
He told the Scottish Sun: “It has been tough watching any football just because of the year I have had.
“But it keeps you going and gives you that drive that will stand me in good stead for this season.
“I have found out a lot about myself over this past twelve months through the struggle I have been through.”

An awful piece of business
Allan’s time at Celtic will always be shrouded in intrigue. There were high hopes for the midfielder when he joined from Hibernian in 2015. He had just come off a good season for the Leith side in Scotland’s second tier. Celtic seemed to beat rivals Rangers to the move, and in a time when had taken a break on the pitch, fans loved that.
Allan never lived up to the hype. There’s an argument that he was never really afforded an opportunity by Ronny Deila or Brendan Rodgers but on the flipside, he never really did enough in training to impress either.

His signing will go down as one of the biggest wastes in recent years. It’s pretty similar to Marvin Copper is many ways, only Brendan Rodgers can’t be blamed.
As for Allan, time will only tell if he can get his career back on track. At the age of 27, he is no longer kid. He needs to find a club where he will get an opportunity and then take it. Just hopefully not against Celtic.
