Scott Allan will be forced to sit out this weekend’s clash between Celtic and Hibernian.
On Sunday afternoon, Neil Lennon’s Hoops host Hibernian in Glasgow, but the former Celtic attacker isn’t fit to play.
As per the Evening Express, Allan won’t be fit as Hibs “explore a health issue affecting the player”.
The 28-year-old has missed his side’s last two games – against St. Mirren and Rangers.
But Allan’s absence can be viewed as a real boost for us.
He is a key player at Easter Road – something that was shown by the fact that he featured in all 30 of Hibs’ Premiership games last season. (soccerway.com)
Allan started 28 of those games, including at Celtic Park back in December.
That was the last time we faced the Hibees in a competitive match.
Celtic met Hibs just a matter of weeks ago
We have, however, already faced Hibs at Celtic Park this season.
Back in late July, just days before the start of the new season, we faced the Leith side in a pre-season friendly.
They took the lead early on through impressive left-back Josh Doig, but succumbed to defeat through a strike from Karamoko Dembele and a Patryk Klimala.
Both managers fielded weakened sides that day and Sunday’s fixture should be a more competitive affair.
Allan may be missing. But we’ll still have to keep an eye on the likes of Martin Boyle and Kevin Nisbet.
It’s going to be a tough game.
