Hibernian manager Neil Lennon hasn’t ruled out a third spell for Scott Allan at the club.

The current Celtic midfielder has barely featured since returning from Edinburgh in the summer.

Speaking at the Hibs AGM Lennon said “He is a Celtic player and it’s not for me to say whether we would be in for him again come January but he is a player that thrived here in two spells.”

Allan has only made 16 appearances in all competitions for Celtic since joining from Hibs in 2015.

He has also failed to score for The Bhoys and has found it hard to compete for a place in Brendan Rodgers’ side.

Money is key to the transfer

Lennon cited financial reasons as another reason why the deal might not happen.

On the other hand Allan is out of contract next summer and can speak to other clubs in January.

Signing for Hibs would mean competing for a spot against Hyndman who has had a good season so far.

Celtic may have tried to play hard ball with Hibs going back to the John McGinn fiasco in the summer.

However, the Glasgow club will no longer be able to stand in Allan’s road.

Rodgers wants a smaller squad

Rodgers has consistently said he needs to trim the squad and a few chose not to leave in the last window.

Allan leaving will free wages and create a tighter squad which will benefit Celtic in the long run.

The former Scotland under 21 international has made more than fifty appearances for the Easter Road side.

Going back to Hibernian won’t be unfamiliar territory for Alan.

Since joining Celtic Allan has been loaned to Dundee and Rotherham as well has Hibs.
