Celtic goalkeeper Scott Bain has done a superb job for the Hoops since becoming the number one goalkeeper at the club in January.
This season, he has played 26 games for the Hoops, and in that time, has conceded only seven goals. A truly remarkable record.
Unlikely to win individual award
It is a record which is deserving of plenty of praise, and perhaps even an award at the end of the season. However, it does seem unlikely that Bain will earn any individual honour.
The reason for that will be that he didn’t start the season as Celtic’s number one goalkeeper. Indeed, up until the winter break, Craig Gordon was the goalkeeper for Celtic.
Only played half a season
Therefore, Bain has really only played half a season for the Hoops. That will be taken into account when awards are handed out at the end of the season.
The likes of James Forrest and Callum McGregor, who have each featured in almost every fixture for the Hoops this season are far more likely to win individual awards.
That shouldn’t take away from the performances Bain has put in for the Hoops this season. He has firmly established himself as the club’s number one goalkeeper going forward.
He should be very proud of his performances. Even if an individual honour eludes him, he will still earn a league winning medal.
