Scott Bain is a cult hero at Celtic and has continued that theme with a fantastic performance between the sticks for Falkirk.

Celtic’s 2-1 win against Hibernian means they are now only two points behind Hearts and seven points ahead of Rangers.

Danny Rohl’s side were in action after the win in Edinburgh but were unable to capitalise and were held to a goalless draw, with Bain taking all the plaudits.

Scott Bain named man of the match against Rangers

Bain made the decision to leave Celtic in the summer to reignite his career and chose newly-promoted Falkirk.

It’s turned out to be a move that has worked out well for everyone, with the 34-year-old now regularly playing.

Just weeks after being recalled to the Scotland national team, the ‘keeper produced a brilliant performance to keep Rangers at bay and claim a vital point for Falkirk.

He made four saves in total, including a brilliant stop in the 66th minute to deny Djeidi Gassama.

That result has done Celtic the world of good and left them with even more breathing room between the Ibrox club and the Hoops.

As for Bain, he has always been universally liked by the Hoops faithful and will now have even more supporters.
