To say Celtic have had their drama with the goalkeeping situation this season would be an understatement.
It could be argued that had Scott Bain stayed on board, he probably would have earned some healthy game time at Celtic, given the mess Kasper Schmeichel found himself in.
But Bain, to take his career to the next level, opted to join newly-promoted Falkirk last summer, and Chris Sutton feels he has been an ‘unsung hero’ for John McGlynn’s side.
“I am going to chuck in Scott Bain, the Falkirk goalkeeper,” said Sutton about his unsung heroes in the Premiership.
“I think he has been an outstanding keeper this year. I have always rated him. I think I need to chuck a goalkeeper in.”
Were Celtic right to let Scott Bain leave in the summer?

Ex-Celtic goalkeeper Scott Bain has made Falkirk ‘better’
Before a ball was kicked this season, many were tipping Falkirk for the drop, but instead, they have surprised many and secured a top-six finish.
Last Saturday, Celtic beat Falkirk at Parkhead to boost their Premiership title chances, but Bain was absent because of injury.
But when looking at the overall picture, Sutton and Steven Naismith wanted to give the 34-year-old his flowers for how he has performed for The Bairns, as they told The Warm-Up.
“I am going to chuck in Scott Bain, the Falkirk goalkeeper,” said Sutton about his unsung heroes in the Premiership.
“I think he has been an outstanding keeper this year. I have always rated him. I think I need to chuck a goalkeeper in.”
Steven Naismith: “I think he adds to Falkirk in the way they want to play. I think for the first half of the season, or when they are controlling a game, he’s out as a third centre-half. Two centre halves split really wide, and there is a lot of emphasis on him with his feet, finding the right pass and being brave enough to play out.
“He has made them better since he has gone there. I think it’s strong.”

Bain’s stats for Falkirk this season
It also needs to be noted that Bain has been recalled by Scotland; that’s how good his performances have been, and he is in line to make Steve Clarke’s World Cup squad this summer.
But before then, Bain, if he returns to action before the end of the campaign, could yet play a part in who wins the Premiership title in Scotland.
That’s because Falkirk are yet to play leaders Hearts, as well as facing off against third-placed Rangers on the last day of the campaign.
Nonetheless, for his Premiership performances, Bain has been rated over seven by Sofascore.
