Celtic goalkeeper Scott Bain has hit out at the SFA as Scott Brown could be facing a potential ban. Brown is facing an SFA charge for his celebrations after the recent 2-1 win over Rangers.
However, Bain is not happy with the governing body’s decision to throw the book at the Hoops skipper.
“A lot been made”
“I think there’s a lot been made of Scott Brown being cited for a ban for celebrating on the pitch when you’ve got to look at the bigger picture” he said, as reported by the Daily Record.
“It’s a bit pathetic”
“You see what the boys and players in every team goes through, putting your hands up in the air and shouting ‘yes’, it’s a bit pathetic to get any sort of ban from it”
Any ban Brown receives won’t be known until next month. The date for his hearing is on the 2nd of May. Should Brown receives a ban he could miss Celtic’s next trip to Ibrox or potentially the Scottish Cup Final.
All at Celtic will no doubt be upset if Brown is banned. This includes the players, the fans and the board.
Bain’s comments show the depths of feeling at the club about the situation. This is unlikely to change in the run-up to Brown’s hearing. Hopefully cool heads prevail and Brown does not get any ban.
