Celtic goalkeeper Scott Bain has revealed what he doesn’t like when Glasgow’s big two come together.

Speaking to the Daily Record, the 27-year old says that the lack of away fans is something which doesn’t bode well for him.

The last tie he played in between the two was his famous debut which all but won him his permanent deal.

However, at Ibrox that day, the away end had their full compliment of fans to cheer them on.

Speaking to the Daily Record ahead of Sunday’s important clash, the ex-Dundee man spoke about what the fans bring to the fixture.

He said: “With what has happened with ticketing arrangements, there will be less Rangers fans and we need to use the atmosphere. Hopefully that stands us in good stead.

“But, if anything, I like it when there are more away fans in the stadium.”

This is the first season in many years that ticketing allocations for the fixture have changed.

Both allocations have been cut from around 8,000 places to just 800 and this is upsetting fans.

However, it wasn’t the Hoops who called for the reduction in tickets originally.

Gers to blame for ticketing fiasco

The reason this started all goes back to around this time last year when Rangers chief Dave King announced a reduction to away seating for all games.

This included Celtic supporters which allowed the South African based chairman to sell more season tickets.

The Bhoys’ followers would take the full Broomloan Stand at Ibrox and the move opened up more sales opportunities.

Some critics will say the move was done because of the consistent celebrations after consecutive Celtic wins at Ibrox.

Whatever the reason, the reduction in fans is taking away from the atmosphere and feel of the game.

If the players are taking note, then this must be the first and last season this should happen.

The clubs should lock heads and commit to a change back to the old system or lose the mystique of the derby.
