A few Celtic players have committed their future to the club in recent weeks. One of those players is Hoops goalkeeper Scott Bain.

Bain recently signed a new four-year deal with the Hoops, which keeps him at the club until 2023. The Hoops goalkeeper is not first choice at the moment, but he has still committed his future to the club.

Speaking to the Celtic View, Bain disclosed that one of the reasons he decided to stay at the club is his relationship with Hoops goalkeeping coach Stevie Woods.

Bain feels that working with Bain can help him become a better player.

“I’ve said it many times but it’s great to work with someone like Woodsy” Bain said, as reported by the Celtic View (Volume 55, Issue 18, Page. 23).

“He improves you and motivates you so that’s another reason why I want to stay at the club for as long as possible because he can push me to another level.”

The fact that Bain is satisfied enough to commit his future to Celtic even though he is not at the moment a first-team regular is testament to the job that the goalkeeping coach is doing at the club.

Woods has an important job at Celtic, perhaps some fans might not be aware of the value of a good goalkeeping coach.

As he has been at Celtic for so many years, Woods has been doing a very good job at the club. He is a vital part of Neil Lennon’s coaching staff, and it is a good sign that players seem so keen to work with him.
