Scott Brown has previewed Celtic’s Scottish Premiership run-in.

He won 22 trophies in 14 years at the club, but the ex-Hoops captain never saw anything quite like this season’s three-way title race with Rangers and Hearts.

It appears to have now been reduced to a two-horse race, and Celtic can confirm this with a win in this Sunday’s Glasgow Derby.

Speaking ahead of the game, Brown backed interim Parkhead boss Martin O’Neill for a statue if he can deliver the trophy.

Scott Brown: Scottish Premiership is still in Celtic and Martin O’Neill’s hands

Speaking to Sky Sports, Brown said: “I think Martin’s done a great job and he seems to get the players trying to play as well as they possibly can…

“Pressing high up the park, getting after teams and Maeda looks like he’s really, really interested again and looks like he wants to score goals.

“Hearts have been the team that everyone thought eventually would die a death if I’m honest, but Derek’s done a fantastic job of maintaining their levels of commitment.

“I still think it’s in Martin’s hands and the Celtic lads’ hands because if they can go and beat Rangers at the weekend, they’ve got Motherwell away then the last game is Hearts at home.

“And I’m going along to that one, I’ll either see Derek lifting a trophy, which, yeah… I will congratulate him, eventually…

“Or it will be a fantastic day for, hopefully, Celtic and all the fans, especially at home, it would be incredible scenes as well, to go and get another trophy.

“If [Martin] was to go and win the title, I think there’d be a statue getting built right outside the stadium for him because he’s done some fantastic things.

“And look, if he was there the whole time, he would probably have just cruised through it. But he comes in, he helps out… he’s a Celtic man, he wants to do the best for Celtic, and that’s why all the fans love him as well.

Asked finally who will win the title, he said: “Celtic”.

Three games remain in Celtic’s Scottish Premiership title race

Before a ball is kicked at Celtic Park on Sunday, Hearts will have to deal with the notorious challenge of Motherwell at Fir Park.

Derek McInnes and Jens Berthel Askou have had some wars of words in the media in the past, so that one should be tasty.

After this weekend it’s Celtic’s turn to go to Fir Park. Depending on results, Hearts could have the chance to secure the title against Falkirk at Tynecastle that week.

Hopefully that isn’t the case, as Celtic’s best hope is to have a title decider at Parkhead on the final day.
