Scott Brown says he’s not surprised about the reports linking Moussa Dembele with a move to England.
The former Hoops frontman has been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea, with the Daily Record most recently reporting that the London side had seen a verbal offer rejected for his services.
Frank Lampard’s men are expected to return to the table again for the Frenchman, and Brown isn’t shocked in the slightest that the interest has been so high in his former team-mate.
“It doesn’t surprise me at all,” he told press on Thursday. (Official Celtic YouTube channel)
“I think when he came here there were a few teams that wanted him at the time and we were lucky enough to have him.
“He came here and showed everyone what a top quality player he was. He’s got qualities and he scores goals too.
“For me, it was great to play with him. It’s great to see him going on and showing the potential that he has got.
“And I’m sure he’ll do that whether it’s in England or in France.”
Brown isn’t surprised by Dembele chat
Brown’s lack of surprise will be shared by the vast majority of the Celtic support.
Just like Virgil Van Dijk and Victor Wanyama before him, we all knew that Dembele would go on to good things after leaving the club.
The forward showed his abilities playing in numerous big games for us over two seasons and he’s simply carried that on while playing in Ligue 1.
If he does eventually move to Chelsea then you would expect the same pattern to follow with him inevitably becoming one of the best forwards in England.
The same is likely to apply for Odsonne Edouard – who shares so many of Dembele’s qualities.
At least Brown can say he’s still a team-mate of one of them. Hopefully for a good bit longer.
