Scott Brown has Celtic rivals on strings as conspiracy theorists are out in force

It couldn’t have gone any better for Celtic last night as Rangers shipped points up at Aberdeen.

We watched on as our rivals put in one of their worst performances of the season so far. How they managed to even come away with anything is anyone’s guess. They were bossed and outthought for the vast majority of the match. Perhaps only the decision to allow Allan McGregor to stay on the pitch after wiping out Ryan Hedges spared their blushes.

However, that’s not the narrative the Rangers supporters are happy to come out with. Instead, it’s all about how former Celtic captain Scott Brown refereed the game. Indeed, Kevin Clancy apparently simply caved into Brown’s influence during the game.

You could see during the match that Brown had them absolutely riled. From waving off Ryan Kent to James Tavernier’s immature shove, Broony was loving it.

It’s the second time this season he’s come back to haunt our Ibrox foes too. He’s helped take 4 points off of them this term in a big boost to Celtic’s title chances.

However it wasn’t just the fact he was winding Rangers players up that will have impressed everyone who watched him. He also managed to put in such a controlled midfield performance throughout the 90 minutes.

On another night he could even have had a couple of goals. Brown had 3 opportunities last night and simply couldn’t take any of them. But away from all of that, he was controlled and influential in the middle of the park.

And, brilliantly, he was in a jovial mood as he wound up everyone of a Rangers persuasion last night. He was looking to get under their skin and see if he could spark a reaction. That’s exactly what he did.

You do have to laugh of course at those calling him a diver or a cheat. These same fans will tell you that Alfredo Morelos gets kicked all about the place when in reality he’s the most pertinent and consistent diver of the lot.

Regardless, it’s fair to say Broony has them all on strings once again. Here’s a look at some of the rival meltdown to his display last night:
